Trident D615 Abrasive Discs: Professional Preparation Without the Premium Price Achieve a flawless foundation for every paint job with Trident D615 Abrasive Discs. Engineered for the rigorous demands of automotive restoration and industrial refinishing, the D615 series offers a high-performance alternative to premium-priced abrasives without sacrificing the quality of your finish. Aggressive Cut, Refined Finish The D615 features an optimised sanding grain designed for a powerful initial bite. Whether you are levelling body filler or feathering back primer, these discs provide the aggressive cutting action needed to move through stages quickly, while maintaining the uniform scratch depths essential for process stability. Why Choose Trident D615 for Your Bodyshop? Multi-Surface Versatility: From high-build primer fillers and varnishes to raw wood and automotive paints, the D615 adapts to your substrate. It is the "all-rounder" disc that ensures a consistent finish across various repair stages. Predictable Scratch Patterns: Avoid the risk of "pigtails" and deep tracer scratches. The D615 is manufactured to ensure grit uniformity, providing a stable sanding action that prevents over-sanding and reduces the time spent on final polishing. Superior Anti-Clogging: Designed to stay sharper for longer, the grain orientation and coating help clear dust efficiently, extending the life of each disc and reducing the total cost per repair. Unbeatable Value-to-Performance Ratio: In a sector where overheads are rising, the Trident D615 provides a professional-grade result at a budget-conscious price point, making it the ideal choice for high-volume workshops and independent restorers alike. Grit Range & Packaging We provide the most common grits in high-capacity boxes to ensure your technicians always have the right abrasive on hand. A handy guide for choosing the correct grit: 1. Structural Levelling: P80 – P120 These are your "heavy hitters." At this stage, you are dealing with the foundation of the repair. P80: Used for the initial shaping of body filler (bondo) or stripping paint back to bare metal. It’s aggressive and leaves deep gouges that must be refined later. P120: Ideal for further refining the shape of the filler. It levels the P80 scratches and prepares the surface for a finer layer of finishing glaze or the first round of primer. 2. Featheredging: P180 – P240 This stage is about creating a smooth transition (the "featheredge") between the repair area, the old paint, and the bare metal. P180: The go-to grit for final sanding of filler before primer. It removes P120 marks and ensures the repair area is flush with the surrounding panel. P240: This is often the final "dry" step before applying high-build primer. It ensures the transition between the repaired area and the original paint is seamless to the touch. 3. Primer Refining: P320 – P400 Once your high-build primer has been applied and cured, you need to flatten it. Primer is designed to fill the P180/P240 scratches, but it leaves a "texture" (orange peel) that needs levelling. P320: Often used as the first pass on cured primer to quickly knock down the texture and level the surface. P400: A versatile grit. In many shops, this is the final step for solid colours (non-metallic) or for a very high-build primer surface that will receive another coat. 4. Final Pre-Paint Prep: P500 This is the industry standard for finishing primer before the basecoat (colour) is applied. P500: At this grit, the scratches are shallow enough that they won't "telegraph" through the basecoat or clearcoat. It provides the perfect "mechanical key" for the paint to stick to without leaving visible lines, especially important for metallic or pearlescent finishes.
