Fortaleza is a family-owned distillery with a heritage dating back to the late 19th century. Today, Guillermo Sauza, a fifth-generation tequilero, continues his family’s legacy, producing tequila the way his ancestors did—by hand, with respect for tradition. The process begins with fully matured blue Weber agave, cooked in stone ovens and crushed using a tahona (a volcanic stone wheel). Fermentation takes place in open wooden vats, and distillation is carried out in small copper stills, ensuring a slow, deliberate process that preserves the agave's natural flavours. Fortaleza Blanco Still Strength Tequila is a bold and authentic expression of artisanal tequila, crafted in small batches in the heart of Jalisco. Bottled at its natural 46% ABV, this unfiltered tequila showcases the pure essence of blue Weber agave, offering an intensified and unadulterated flavour profile that reflects traditional production methods.
