Founded in 2005, Kilchoman Distillery is Islay’s first new distillery in over a century and remains one of Scotland’s few farm-to-bottle producers. Located on the rugged west coast of the island, Kilchoman grows and malts a high percentage of its own barley on-site, embodying a rare commitment to provenance and traditional craftsmanship. This limited edition release showcases the distillery’s signature style with enhanced depth and maturity, having been patiently aged for thirteen years in a carefully selected combination of bourbon barrels, bourbon octaves, and Calvados casks. Ex-bourbon barrels form the backbone of the vatting, imparting classic Kilchoman character – bright citrus, vanilla sweetness, and the unmistakeable influence of Islay’s coastal peat smoke. The Calvados casks, a rare and intriguing choice, bring a vibrant dimension of green apple, orchard fruit, and subtle floral complexity, while the inclusion of smaller octave casks intensifies richness and texture. The result is a whisky brimming with juicy fresh fruit, layered sweetness, and waves of maritime smoke, perfectly balanced by time and oak.
