Founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills, Kilchoman was the first new distillery on Islay in over a century, bringing a fresh perspective to traditional whisky-making. What sets Kilchoman apart is its commitment to crafting whisky on-site, embracing a field-to-bottle approach that includes growing its own barley, malting, distilling, maturing, and bottling right at the distillery. The Sanaig expression, named after a rugged inlet on Islay’s western coast, is an artful blend of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, reflecting Kilchoman's skill in balancing cask influence to highlight the distillery’s character. This cask strength release captures the full intensity of its maturation, bottling at a punchy 57.8%abv, with no chill-filtration or artificial colouring, allowing the whisky’s natural flavours and colours to shine. The high proportion of Oloroso sherry casks adds rich, deep layers of dried fruit and spice, harmoniously blending with Kilchoman's signature citrus sweetness and distinctive peat smoke.
